Don't Do It!
New Year Resolutions are not something I find myself taking part. I bet it's got something to do with the counter-revolutionary in me. People in my regular life don't suspect a thing, but I'm telling you it's the truth.
My buddy, when we in high school, fasted the day after he was supposed to. I remember him telling me something like, “I can fast, I just don't want to do it because I'm supposed to.” I completely understood!
That bad pun I wrote as a tile should be making sense by now.
I don't believe in resolutions because they so often cause stress, or feelings of inadequacy. It can create pressure and tension in our minds. This right at the new year!
Another problem is when a person makes a resolution that is unrealistic. This is not to diss goals and goal setting. Or life challenges that one needs to meet. Just don't combine that with the new year.
A resolution can also negate the awesomeness of who you already are. I'm not saying don't have goals, and personal accomplishment, I'm saying that has nothing to do with new year.
Ultimately, I have to remind myself that whole “New Year's Resolution” is made up. It's not real. I know a little about illusion, and I say, maybe this year, go for a run, or walk instead.
Have a great New Year!
